Working on paperwork!!!

So here we are running around like crazy again its my poor husband that is running around. He is the best paperwork master ever. We sent out paperwork for visas randy checked this morning they are in New York already. We are working on dossier 2 so we will turn that in before we leave. The only thing that we have to do that has to do with paperwork is the police, psychologist and doctors. Since that expires in 90 we are doing this last. Everything else is done. This time we have six different notaries so I think it will take longer to appostile .The other paperwork for the first dossier, they did it for us in one day so ,so far we had no trouble. They know us pretty good by now. Everything is coming along. I started to pack because knowing me I will pack and re-pack a couple of times. Randy told me the total weight can't be more than 44 pounds and that's including my carry on. That is a challenge in itself because I always over pack and this time I can't. I will re-wear pants but bring more shirts and I was thinking 2 pairs of shoes. I made a friend on face book that lives in Vlad so I have been asking her how the weather is and she said its hot and I have read in a lot of blogs that is really hot in the buildings so I was thinking shorts but is that appropriate. I just want to look nice and not like a slob or maybe I am just over thinking this whole thing too much. I am freaking out about flying for so long. Randy said it will take us 26 hours to get there and about 36 hours to get back home. On the way coming back we are staying in Moscow because our flight is at 10 am so instead of sleeping at the airport we'll get a hotel room at the airport. So that's the news so far.

are you staying at the vlad motor inn? They have a washing machine and dryer to use for free so don't worry about not enough clothes (just bring a small box of laundry soap).

shorts are fine to wear in the hotel but not when you visit the baby home.

good luck! I am so very happy for you!

The 44 pound limit does not include your carry-on - it's just for checked baggage. It is going to be really warm in the baby home so bring some nice light weight pants a short sleeved shirt. I overpacked - didn't wear half the stuff I brought. Go for comfort!! Good luck.

Yes Vlad Inn has a washer and dryer so don't bring much. The hotel has A/C but not the orphanage. Try to get your facilitator to bring teh baby outside much nicer than being stuck in a hot little room. The first few days I wore bussiness casual to the baby home, but after I went casual. But yes no shorts as Russia is like western european countries. Shorts on women are not the best looked. Wear skirts. (We are still odl fashion on rules in Europe. believe me I am from France you don't see women in tennis shoes unless you go work out.) And now breath and relax it is going to be fine! The flight is long but you will be so excited it actually goes fast. the return, you can't wait to go back home so you can finalize dossier #2 to hurry to come back for a court date! Have fun and enjoy everyday! Be ready it is also very emotional so on each day we visited our son, we were darn tired :-)

We were in Vlad in July and I was told to bring more of a business casual look....well, one weekend was gorgeous warm weather and everyone was wearing extrememly casual summer clothes! The Russians were loving the sun and taking advantage for sure! I would still say a business casual look for going to the DOE to get your referral, and then you can wear capris or jeans the rest of the days shirts. Take one light-weight jacket or sweater as there will still be rainy, cloudy days.

We took one power-strip so we could plug all our chargers into. The VMI has a hairdryer you can use and an iron, but the hairdryer didn't style my hair the best and I want to look a little better for court so I bought a nicer dual voltage hairdyer and a flat iron for our next trip, but I just wanted less frizzy hair for pictures :o) So exciting!!!

Here we are one year after receiving our referral redoing all the same paperwork you are doing. We have our psych appt Monday.

Random comment - I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jen and I've been silently following your blog for awhile. My husband and I are adopting a little girl in the Moscow region. We're making our first trip at the end of this month so I was so excited to see someone going to be there at the same time. I'm not sure what days we'll be in Moscow quite yet, but if we are both there at the same time, maybe we'll run into each other :).

Remember- take out half of what you think you need. You can do it! Don't be scared! You'll be happy when you aren't trying to stuff two huge bags into the world's tiniest car or up three flights of stairs to your flat or thru the airport, trying to catch your connector! You will look fabulous...
