A very important question???

If Randy and I each take a carry on and a personal bag is that okay. We will fit into a carry on that can't be more than 44 pounds but we also want to take a bag for the paperwork and ipods etc....I just want to make sure we understand this correctly. I tried all the clothes that I am going to be wearing so everything goes together so I don't have to over pack and I am also taking two pairs of flat black shoes that will go with everything. We got the questions for the orphanage, like 2 toys and a small pink elephant blankie for the baby. Our agency also suggested diapers for time that we stay with the baby so I'll pack a couple of those. we rather take two carry ones than a suitcase can you guys tell me is that what you did...Thank you!!!!!!!

We went in the winter, so clothes were bulkier and we needed boots. So we had 2 big suitcases that we checked, one carry on and two personal. We went for 6 nights our first trip so we did need a good amount. We didn't need it all, but it worked out fine. We cut down on space by taking mostly travel size everything. We also packed our DOE clothes in the carry on just in case luggage got lost.

Like Jeanette, it was winter so we checked 3 bags of luggage (one was full of baby clothes for orphanage donations). We brought on 2 personal bags (a tote & backpack) plus 2 small suitcases. It was crazy but it worked for us :) I wouldn't recomend it... you are doing it right by bringing less!

Very strange that your agency is telling you to bring diapers as you see teh child on trip #1 just for 3 hours per day and the child is still the responsability of the baby home so he/she is dressed and dry... Try to have the booklet for baby that you can insert pictures of your guys and one picture that you will take there the 3 of you so you can leave it in her crib. Our little guy still use that booklet today that is he comfort book and always point to his Daddy and Mommy :-)

You can each bring two personal items on the plane (purse, backpack, small suitcase, tote bag, etc), and check bags that weight 44 pounds or less. We each carried on two bags and we checked three bags (one was full of stuff for the baby house) and I wanted some room to bring stuff home from shopping. We left the third suitcase with the baby home so we didn't have to bring it back home.

Make sure you carry on all of your paperwork, electronics and a change of clothes in case your luggage doesn't make it.

We took 2 carryons and 2 personal items (backpacks) the first trip. We are leaving tomorrow for our court trip and are taking the same amount of luggage. I just learned to pack creatively. The gifts and donations have been consolidated pretty well. I would also weigh my carryon at home. We took Aeroflot last time and they weighed our carryon before we could board with it.
