Here we are

Well, we made it to Russia. Got to visit her yesterday and she has grown! Walking on her own, playing with toys, and can point to things. She was scared of us, but that's expected. We are nervous about court on Friday, but will try and stay positive.

Question...when we visited her she had what looked like bug bites on her face and hands. They put blue stuff on it and told us it wasnt scabbies or chicken pox. Another little girl that we saw also had the blue stuff. Assume it was for the itching, but anyone else seen or heard of this? Thoughts? Thx

We adopted from Ussuriysk Baby Home #3. We were told that the red itchy rash all over our daughter's back was allergies and given a long list of things she shouldn't eat...turns out she had scabies.

If you look at our blog and Annas referral pic you'll see the blue dots. They put that stuff on everything....kinda a liquid bandaid. It probably is just bug bites. They have lots of mosquitos. Scabies is more of a rash look. Anna is from the same baby home and always had a few blue dots somewhere.

So exciting!!! She's almost out of there!! While I do think were some pretty great, nice caring women in that home, its nothing like a family :o) Wonder if I saw your daughter while we were there?

They put that stuff - green and blue- on everything! I think our translator called it antiseptic??

The day we went to court and then visited Grace, I decided to peek in her diaper and just check things out. She had red bumps covered with blue all over. I almost freaked out! We don't know what it was, but were told by the doctor that she was allergic to the diapers they were using. They were gone after our 10 day wait and I haven't seen them since. Now she has had hives for 2 weeks on her stomach. Maybe I need some blue stuff :)

I KNOW THEY PUT THE BLUE STUFF ON TO STOP THE ITCH SO IT COULD BE ANY THING. Good luck at court on Friday and I can not wait to see pictures.

Yay! So glad you're back.

I've heard/seen of the blue stuff - and agree with what others say, that it's used on about everything.

Will be thinking of you on Friday.

Can. Not. Wait. To. See. Pictures.

Our daughter (who had scabies) had large raised up red bumpy patches all over her back. What you have described doesn't sound like what she had. Our son had been treated with bright pink 'paint like' liquid for odd bites, nothing major.

My little one was from Ussurisk and had scabies which is common to be found in orphanages there. They were adamant in russia that it wasn't scabies, it was 'baby home rash'. If you have the slightest inkling it might be scabies, I'd treat right away and avoid everyone getting it. My daughters started as a few bumps, and grew into a rash and you could see the tracks. she had itched like crazy and still has scars on her legs where she was infected from scratching. If you look online you can find pictures and more details.

they put that blue stuff on everything. I think we used to call it mecuricrome in the US.
